Seaside Sleepover at Tides Inn and Social

Seal Cove’s Hidden Gem on Grand Manan Island

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of being hosted a stay at Tides Inn & Social in the historic fishing village of Seal Cove, sitting pretty on the shores of Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick

I never get tired of photographing Seal Cove. (See my Fall visit here)It has a way of pulling you in with its textured smokehouses standing on stilts along the shore, making you wonder what stories they are keeping from generations past. At first glance, Seal Coves appears to be abandoned, but it’s far from that.

And if you time it just right, you can catch the sun rise at low tide on the sandy beach. If you’re coming to Seal Cove to photograph, better bring more than just one memory card.

Waking Up Is Easy Here.

Now let’s talk about the Inn itself. Sitting just above the restaurant, Tides Inn & Social offers six rooms, each one uniquely decorated with its own character and coastal charm. Each room has a view worth waking up for but the bed was so comfortable, honestly, I just wanted to roll over and sleep just a little long. I actually asked the owner where they had purchased the mattress. She said she would get back to me. I’ll let you know onces I hear back from them. Not to mention the decor that makes you feel like you're staying at a cozy cottage.

The inside mirrors the outside

Now here’s a little backstory for the history buffs and curious types: the building started its life in 1917. Over the years, it’s worn a few hats — a general store, a post office, even a doctor’s office at one point. Now, it’s a perfect blend of history, hospitality, and really good food.

Speaking of which — let’s talk food.
